While watching this short film i was astonished by the outcome of Ranking interpretations of the Seven Famous photographs.
While watching the film i understood each photographer worked in a different way from cameras to the development side.
The photo which originally caught my eye throughout the video which intrigued me the most was Erwin Blumenfeld Vogue french cover 1950
The left Photograph is the original captured by Erwin Blumenfeld, and the right is the interpretation by Rankin Captured 2008.(MODEL JEAN PLANCHETT)
The photo was originally captured in black and white, but Blumenfeld took focus on certain parts of of the image, eyes and lip and made them the main part of the image. In the short film it was mentioned the image looked almost like pop art. Certain areas of the image such as the shadow below the lips and the colour on the eyes were painted on afterwards as Erwin Blumenfeld like to play around with the colour and shadow. Blumenfelds original idea was to bleach out the image and manipulate the image later.
The image is thought not to actually work but it strangely does, it doesn't have cheekbones showing nor does it have a nose visible you would naturally think that wouldn't look right but Blumenfeld liked to work outside the box and that truly inspires me.
While researching into Blumenfelds work i have became more inspired than i did before, He truly loves his work and you can see throughout the image he portrays. One day i aim to be as daring as he was in his photography.
The image above shows Rankin's interpretation during his actual photoshoot.
Rankin decided to use Heidi Klum as the model for his version of the French Vogue Cover 1950. Rankin final image turned out to be astonishing to what i thought was an amazing photo. Ranking decided to give the model a personality during the the modern twist photoshoot which made the image more inspiring.
Rankin Edited the photo in same way as Blumenfeld but also used modern technology also.
Even though i have chosen this particular image i would say each seven photographs inspired me, an gave me ideas to think outside the box, be yourself not someone else.
